Katmai National Park and Preserve

Declared as National Park on December 2, 1980
Katmai National Park

This beautiful Park was named after Mount Katmai. It covers 4,093,077 acres of area. This Park is famous for Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes and Brown Bears inhabiting here. The Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes was formed after the eruption of Novarupta and Mount Katmai in 1912. This park is also an ideal location for camping, hiking, fishing and backcountry skiing. The Park is home to many volcanoes and about 14 of them are active.
