Facebook announces 'Embed Post' feature to enable websites to showcase public posts

Facebook rolls out a new feature that will enable web portals to share the social network's content on their site. 'Embed Post' will make it possible for people to bring timely public posts from Facebook to the rest of the web.

However, all Facebook posts cannot be embedded, only those posts whose privacy settings are set to public can be embedded.

According to the announcement, the feature is currently being tested with CNN, Huffington Post, Bleacher Report, PEOPLE and Mashable pages. However, Facebook promised broader availability soon.

This is the second Twitter feature copied by Facebook this year. Earlier in June, Facebook introduced hashtags, a feature that was synonymous with Twitter.

The feature will be automatically available as soon as Facebook enables it.

Meanwhile, Facebook’s shares saw a rise above its IPO price of 38 dollars before falling back to close at 36.80 dollars as a result of its strong revenue from mobile advertising.

Mark Zuckerberg had earlier said that the work the company has done to make mobile the best Facebook experience is showing good results and provides them with a solid foundation for the future as the company saw 655.6 million dollars in revenue from mobile ads in the three months from April to June.
